8 celebrities who look like dolls (without even trying)!

1. Amanda Seyfried
I first saw her in the movie Mean Girls, where she played the small role of Karen Smith, a not-so-smart yet nice blonde who never mistreated the main character (played by Lindsay Lohan) despite being one of the plastics. I didn’t know who Amanda Seyfried was at that time but I liked her in the movie since she was so funny and cute. The above is a picture of her when she dressed up as a mouse for Halloween in the movie.
While not smiling, Amanda almost doesn’t have fine lines around her mouth, making her cheeks a bit full without looking chubby at all. This makes her doll like, along with her full lips, doe-shaped eyes, and oval-shaped face. Hence, without even trying, she’s almost like a doll!
And she looked so much more like one when she wore a wig (short and with full bangs) in the movie “In Time”. Check it out the lovely picture below or see the movie on DVD!

2. Avril Lavigne
Okay, maybe this is a surprise for this list, you may think? Why Avril Lavigne? She may not be the girliest girl out there, but I have always thought she looks like a doll, not the cute young dolls type, but the adult Barbie doll. With really thick blonde hair and white skin, the doll favorite colors pink and green just look so awesome on her, be it for clothes or even for her hair! It actually seems so fun to dress her up.
And the size of her big doll-like eyes became more apparent in her music video “Wish You Were Here.” With extra big hair, big fully made-up eyes, and slightly pink (almost nude) lips, Avril was like a crying Barbie. You should try watching it on YouTube to get what I mean.

3. Devon Aoki
It’s not just an ordinary doll; it’s like a China Doll! But Devon Aoki is half Japanese and half English/German. With a very unique face that has impressed many, she has become an image model for big brands like Chanel, Lancome, etc. even though she’s actually short for a common runway model.

4. Emily Browning
The name of this movie character says it all, Baby Doll, and picking Emily Browning for the role was just perfect. Maybe it’s just the hair and costume? But even as a normal person, Emily already resembles a doll, with her round (but almost squarish) face and thick full lips.

5. Lily Cole
If you see her in some print ads and you don’t know her, one of your reactions might be, how young is that girl and why is she modeling like that?! English model (and now actress too) Lily Cole was born in 1987. She’s old enough but her facial features make her look so young – very round face, chubby cheeks, and very small mouth. Many of her fashion editorial/promotional photos intentionally made her more doll-like.

6. Nozomi Sasaki
Don’t worry, this cute girl isn’t a sexy star. She’s a Japanese fashion model. Even in Japan, they considered her to be doll-like, hence even her first DVD of modeling was entitled, “Dolly.” I find her to be probably one of the most photogenic girls out there who’d never ever have a bad photo. If you google her name, there are countless of images of her!

7. Taylor Swift
Of course, everyone should know this, since it has been almost like her image as a teen pop star. Taylor Swift is like a humanized Disney Princess from a fairy tale, with the Princess-y lyrics of her songs, with her sparkly eyes and face in her videos, with the way she dresses, and with that long blonde hair, which recently became more doll-like since she straightened them and had bangs.
I guess that many little girls would love to have Taylor as a sister so they’d have a human Barbie to play with. Maybe Sophia Grace and Rosie would think so:

8. Marie Digby
Oh, and how could I forget YouTube phenom Marie Digby! She looks like Disney Princess Snow White (even though that’s not completely jet-black hair), and I think she knows it, because there was a time when she cosplayed as Snow White for Halloween. It was really so cute! Among all these dolls, it’s Marie Digby that I’ve seen in person. She’s been in the Philippines several times because she has so many fans here, who would sometimes pretend that she’s also a Filipino, haha! But sadly I haven’t met her face-to-face. Maybe I’ll find my way to when she comes back here.
Marie also looks like a doll. She’s got porcelain white skin, oval-shaped face, and cute mouth. She got her very white skin from her Irish dad and her Asian features from her Japanese mom. Oh yeah, she speaks fluent Japanese too.

They all don’t look alike but they all seem to resemble a doll, but different looks or types of a doll. ^_^

My take on Dakota Koti Ostrenga or KotaKoti, the "human barbie doll"

Who is Dakota Koti
When anyone googles images with the keywords “human barbie doll” or “real life barbie doll,” one of the photos would definitely be of American girl Dakota Ostrenga, whose webnames are also Dakota Koti and KotaKoti. Dakota keeps a blog at, where she uploads her pictures, and a YouTube channel, where she shares how-to videos on hairstyling, make up, and where she poses with her collection of cute doll-like outfits.

Her Fame in Japan
She has become famous in Japan because she has some of the features that some Asian girls love, such as light brown hair, big and light-colored eyes, and pale skin. Some Asian girls love coloring their hair from black to brown, red, or even blonde, which would look better if they go with lighter color eyes. Hence, some of them wear colored contact lenses to match their hair color. Some also use contact lenses to make their pupils look bigger, making their eyes livelier. As a caucasian, Dakota doesn’t need to color her hair brown because it already is naturally. She wouldn’t need colored contact lenses either. Of course, these features (brown hair and colored eyes) may be common for caucasians, but the nice thing about Dakota’s look is that the Asian Anime-ish styling, whether with hair or fashion, seems to look good on her. Not all caucasians could pull that off.

About Dakota’s Interview Video in Japan
With plus points that she could actually speak some Nihongo, Dakota’s internet fame has recently brought her to Japan. Although many TV shows and news stories all over the world have already featured her, her very first live interview was done in Japan. It’s now hard to look for the video of that interview because Dakota’s haters have started pinpointing how she looked different in the interview compared to her own uploaded pictures and videos. Dakota does not share the video anymore either. Some say that she deleted some scenes in the video before posting it.
I have personally seen the whole video of the interview. It’s noticeable that she may have some features that she isn’t satisfied with, such as jawline that still has baby fats. Like every girl, she may also have some angles that she doesn’t prefer, which made her conscious about the interview video. She may look different from her uploaded pictures, but overall, she was still pretty. Her cute sense of style was also noticeable as they took a video of her walking and looking at clothes in Japan.
This is also one of her shots in the video. I like this angle of her.
Unphotoshopped Photos of Dakota
Some anti-Dakota netizens have created the words kotashop, kotashopping, kotafied, and kotified because they feel that Dakota has edited her photos and even videos before uploading them. But she has pictures out there that were taken by other photographers. In some of these real photos, if you compare them with those that she has taken of herself and uploaded, she may look a bit conscious if you look closely at her eyes. She looks different, but I think she’s still pretty.

What Dakota is Good at: “Styling her Hair”
Whether or not she edited her face in her videos for visual enhancing as some people claim, I still like the hairstyles she has shared in her how-to videos. In fact, her hair is pretty, with its light texture, color, and straightness. There may be other Youtubers with more sophisticated or original styles or who are more professional even in styling other people, but I think that Dakota is good at fixing her own hair. She’s also lucky to have such manageable hair. Check out her hairstyles below. They can be a source of inspiration for styling yours, aren’t they?
Cute Fashion, Outfits
She has worked on a few videos about her outfits. They are all cute, doll-like, and anime-ish. Again, they can be a source of inspiration if you are looking for this kind of style. As you may have guessed, I like her pink outfit. I love the skirt on the last photo as well. You may have noticed that it’s usually the “socks” that make an outfit “doll-like” and “young”.

Dakota Koti for Korea’s Etude House
They even made her wear socks in the Etude House promotional photos. Yes, Korea recently got her as endorser. In my country Philippines, Etude House has also arrived with 2NE1′s Sandara or Dara Park as endorser. Sandara became first a famous actress here in the Philippines before she went back home to Korea to continue her career.
Below are photos of Dakota Koti for Etude. I do love her pink dress and shoes!

Like I’ve said, I ike this angle of her. And I think that Etude thinks the same, so they picked this photo.
This could’ve been a really cute photo, with that Etude basket. But it looks like she wasn’t ready for the shot, which makes her expression seem conscious, and her eyes seemed less confident. But maybe these photos aren’t the final promotional photos.

Trying out Blogger again!

Have you been to the old before? I used to blog there about radio, movies, media, anime, makeup, and cosplay, but I deleted it because I had moved to my new home at using Wordpress. I did get to backup most of my entries in the blog though, and I might put them up again after some cleanup.

Are you a blogger too or do you have plans to blog? What platform are you currently using or you are thinking of using? Blogger or Wordpress?

I wonder which one is better. Can you share with me your thoughts?

I've registered this blogger address again to see what's new with Blogger. Let's see how it goes. ^_^
